Charlie Cox’s Daredevil is returning to the small screen with a new Marvel Studios series coming to Disney Plus.
Variety reports that Marvel Studios has hired Matt Corman and Chris Ord (the duo behind the USA Network series Covert Affairs) to write and executive produce a Daredevil series for the Disney Plus streaming service. Charlie Cox is expected to return as Matt Murdock, a.k.a. Daredevil, following his surprise appearance as the fan-favorite Marvel hero in last year’s Spider-Man: No Way Home.
There has been chatter regarding this Daredevil series ever since the launch of Disney Plus in 2019. The original Daredevil series with Charlie Cox ran on Netflix for three critically-acclaimed seasons before the streaming giant unexpectedly cancelled it alongisde the rest of its Marvel productions in a move that left fans and industry insiders shocked. It was generally regarded as the best project to come out of Netflix’s relationship with Marvel Television.
Charlie Cox was last seen as Matt Murdock in Spider-Man: No Way Home, acting as the lawyer of Peter Parker. Around the same time as the release of No Way Home, Daredevil star Vincent D’Onofrio also reprised his role as Wilson Fisk AKA Kingpin for the Disney Plus series Hawkeye. However’s D’Onofrio future as Kingpin is less certain due to how his Hawkeye storyline concluded.
