Everything to Do Before Fjordur in Ark: Survival Evolved

Fjordur is the upcoming expansion for Ark: Survival Evolved, and players can prepare for the new map by leveling and transferring their characters.

There are currently 11 maps for players to explore in Ark: Survival Evolved, and a new one set to release later this year, Fjordur. Players can get ready for Fjordur by leveling up their character, beating bosses, and transferring their character on each map. Doing so will allow players to have exclusive items found on maps like Scorched Earth or Aberration. Players can transfer their character between any map as well as bring items and tamed creatures with them.

The exclusive items can be found on the paid DLC maps. Players will need to level up their character to unlock each engram they want to bring over to the new Fjordur in Ark: Survival Evolved. Most engrams, aside from specific armor or tech, can be transferred with the character to a new map. However, players will need to beat bosses before bringing over their engrams. There are artifacts on each map to collect, as well as lower-level creatures to defeat, for players to unlock boss arenas.

Aside from Genesis, Genesis 2, and Extinction, which have mission-related character transfers, a player can transfer their survivor by going to one of the Obelisks on the map. However, any gear or items the player is carrying will be lost, and their tamed creatures will not be transferred. Instead, players need to transfer their inventory to the Obelisk first. Next, players can command any creatures following them to stand at the center of the Obelisk, then transfer them as well. The actual character should be the last thing players use the Obelisk to transfer in Ark: Survival Evolved.

What to Bring to Fjordur in Ark: Survival Evolved

Once a character is transferred from a map, they won’t exist there anymore, so it’s recommended that players bring anything valuable with them. There are some materials that players will need when they start out no matter what map they’re on. Players can transfer a large supply of Ark: Survival Evolved‘s fiber, wood, flint, stone, thatch, and other resources to the new Fjordur map so they have a head start in making a shelter and tools. Players can also send less common resources to Fjordur, like metal or obsidian, if they have an abundance of it on another map.

Besides raw materials, players can also bring over their already crafted items. If players have enough materials to spare or don’t plan on returning to the map they’re currently on, they can bring everything to the transfer point and have it on Fjordur when it releases. Having tools and weapons, like a Pickaxe or a firearm, will let players focus on exploring the new area rather than starting from scratch. Players should also transfer crafting structures, like the Refining Forge, and building materials in order to develop a base on the new map.

The easiest way to prepare for the Fjordur map in Ark: Survival Evolved is to transfer a character and materials from another map. Before Fjordur is released, players can work on building up their inventory with valuable resources, like Ark: Survival Evolved‘s Obsidian, so they can process the transfer as soon as Fjordur is released in June 2022. Until the release, Ark: Survival Evolved players should work on gathering everything they need to get started in Fjordur.
