What RHONY Reunion Cancellation Means For Show’s Future

The Real Housewives of New York City’s reunion is canceled. Is this a sign of more big changes to come? RHONY fans are very concerned.

Fans of The Real Housewives of New York were upset to learn that the reunion had been canceled and feel that this decision could have substantial implications when it comes to the show’s future. The Big Apple franchise has been one of the best series for the Bravo network in past years. Fans were let down by RHONY season 13, and the network took note.

Bravo viewers and the network can agree on one thing, which is the fact that they both want to see The Real Housewives of New York return to its former glory. It should be riding high in terms of ratings, just like it used to. For weeks, the show’s viewers have been asking producers to bring the show back to its olden days, when extremely privileged women fought and fans loved every second of it. Viewers have called for the return of Dorinda Medley, Jill Zarin, and Tinsley Mortimer. However, before a major overhaul can happen, the network needs to address the elephant in the room.

The world of 2008 was very different from 2021, and extreme outbursts like Ramona Singer’s are no longer tolerated, but it doesn’t look like the Singer Stinger got the memo. Bravo has claimed that the reunion was canceled due to scheduling conflicts, but viewers just aren’t buying that excuse. Fans watched as the network worked around COVID-19 and taped via Zoom, so their excuse doesn’t seem genuine. Followers of The Real Housewives of New York think there was a strong motive. They believe that the network wanted to protect Ramona. The blonde has made it clear that she was nervous about a reunion and being painted as a racist.

There is widespread speculation that the network wanted to help Ramona save face. Fans think the network believes most fans will forget about her ostentatious, disgraceful, and dramatic outbursts about Black Lives Matter and the worldwide pandemic if there is no reunion. Season 13 was a season that had fans’ opinions split down the middle. While some enjoyed seeing newbie Eboni K. Williams, others felt she was too preachy. The latest season hit an all-time low among viewers. While some have called for Eboni to be fired, the real villain here has been Ramona all along. The Upper East Side resident has refused to change or acknowledge her tone-deaf statements. Ramona shouldn’t be the hill that the Bravo network chooses to die on.

All of The Real Housewives of New York women were upset by the news. Eboni took to her social media to share the dress she would have worn for the occasion. Leah McSweeney revealed that she was thrilled not to have to talk about issues that happened a year ago. The franchise was hit hard with COVID-19 shutdowns, including the fact that New York City was under lockdown. While there will not be a reunion, this year’s viewers still have hope that season 14 will be better… and well worth the wait.
