When asked why Cattrall, 65, didn’t reprise her role as the sweet-talking PR maven Samantha Jones, Noth quickly leapt to the defence of his long-time friend and co-star Parker, 56.
“I have to tell you, I have absolutely no idea what her thinking is, or her emotions,” Noth said in the candid interview.
“I do know that I’m very close with SJ and [Cattrall’s] descriptions of her don’t even come close.”
Noth went on to reveal he always “liked” Cattrall and said he wished her bitter feud with Parker, which dates back to 2004, would finally come to an end.
“I liked her, I thought she was marvellous in the show and some people move on for their own reasons. I don’t know what hers were,” he continued.
“I just wish that whole thing had never happened because it was sad and uncomfortable.”
Noth, who has played Carrie’s on-again-off-again lover Mr Big since the series first aired in 1998, said he felt protective of Parker as the feud has sparked “nasty” trolling and cruel comments over the years.
“I just don’t like to see anyone talking down about SJ because she’s a target and people can be nasty. I feel very protective of her and I was not happy about that. That’s all I’ll say about that,” he said.
Elsewhere in the interview, the actor also revealed he very nearly didn’t return for the highly-anticipated And Just Like That series.
Much like many diehard fans of SATC, Noth said he wasn’t pleased with how Carrie and Mr Big’s relationship unfolded on the big screen.
“On my side of it, I thought it was less — I was a little uncomfortable with the, um, in the second one, how the issues between Carrie and Big were resolved,” he admitted.
“I don’t remember [the films], to tell you the truth. I just remember the series being a lot of fun. I saw the movies once at the premieres and that was it.”
Cattrall and Parker were rumoured to have butt heads during the filming of the iconic HBO series, which aired its final episode in 2004.
The duo reportedly fell out after it was discovered Parker received a bigger pay check for the last season.
The alleged payroll dispute also reportedly halted production of the two Sex and the City movies in 2008 and 2010.
While the co-stars often denied the existence of a feud, their fractured friendship was laid bare publicly after Cattrall accused Parker of being “cruel” on social media.
Parker had offered her condolences on Instagram following the death of Cattrall’s brother Christopher, prompting the actress to post a blunt message on her profile.
“I don’t need your love or support at this tragic time, @sarahjessicaparker,” the image posted by Cattrall read.
Her caption stated: “My Mom asked me today ‘When will that @sarahjessicaparker, that hypocrite, leave you alone?'”
“Your continuous reaching out is a painful reminder of how cruel you really were then and now. Let me make this VERY clear. (If I haven’t already) You are not my family. You are not my friend. So I’m writing to tell you one last time to stop exploiting our tragedy in order to restore your ‘nice girl’ persona.”
In 2018, Cattrall revealed the extent of her feud with Parker in an interview with Piers Morgan and admitted she never classified her co-star as a friend.
“We’ve never been friends. We’ve been colleagues, and in some ways it’s a very healthy place to be because then you have a clear line between your professional life and relationship and your personal,” she said.
The bad blood between Park and Cattrall again hit fever pitch in 2017 when Cattrall was blamed for the axing of the third SATC movie.
Cattrall defended herself on social media and said, “The only demand I ever made was that I didn’t want to do a third film…. And that was back in 2016.”
“The answer was always no,” Cattrall told Piers Morgan. “I never asked for any money, I never asked for any projects. To be thought of as some kind of diva is ridiculous.”
According to the NY Post, Cattrall reluctantly took part in the first film in 2007.
“Kim does not want to… do the film,” a friend told the publication. “She feels she has been treated horribly by Sarah Jessica Parker for six years.”
