The premier will appoint an equity officer imminently to deal with the complaints, which are not usual in Australian workplaces.

‘We’re about to appoint an equity officer, this has been an election commitment of mine, this will be firmly focused on these issues,’ she told Nine’s Today program on Thursday.

‘But this (sexual harassment) is not uncommon to Queensland, we publish these figures, this is what’s happening in workplaces across the nation.

‘And I think the fact that people are reporting is a good thing, but to have an equity officer are looking at these issues closely is at the forefront of my government’s agenda.’

Nine News also reported that 265 bullying and harassment complaints were reported between July 2019 and June 2020.

The majority of those complaints were internal, but no public servants were sacked or suspended without pay.
