BREAKING: Top NHL Draft Prospect Macklin Celebrini Headlines Star-Studded Lineup for Canada’s World Juniors Camp!

Macklin Celebrini, anticipated as the top pick in the 2024 NHL Draft, is among the 30 players selected for Hockey Canada’s final evaluation camp for the 2024 IIHF World Junior Championship. Taking place at Sixteen Mile Sports Complex in Oakville, Ontario, from Dec. 10-13, the camp will determine the 25-player roster for Canada’s WJC team, competing in Gothenburg, Sweden, from Dec. 26 to Jan. 5.

A freshman at Boston University, Celebrini currently ranks third among NCAA players with 25 points (10 goals, 15 assists) in 15 games. The 17-year-old received an A rating from NHL Central Scouting. David Gregory of Central Scouting sees Celebrini as a primary playmaker, emphasizing his ability to create opportunities for teammates while also being a formidable finisher.

The evaluation camp includes notable players like Tristan Luneau from the Anaheim Ducks, Owen Beck of the Montreal Canadiens, and six first-round picks from the 2023 NHL Draft. The final roster, to be announced on Boxing Day, will represent Canada at the World Juniors under the coaching of Alan Letang, with Canada aiming to achieve a historic three-peat of championships.

The preliminary-round game against Finland on Dec. 26 kicks off Canada’s quest, and the tournament runs through Jan. 5, culminating in the gold- and bronze-medal games. The U.S. has also announced its 29-player roster for the final WJC evaluation camp.
