“Should the Cleveland Browns Sign Linebacker Zach Cunningham to Strengthen Their Defense?”
The Cleveland Browns are heading into the 2024 NFL season with one of the league’s most impressive rosters. With no major weaknesses, a top-ranked defense from last year, and an offense poised to improve with a fully healthy Deshaun Watson, the Browns look strong. However, there’s still room to enhance their squad.

Bleacher Report recently highlighted each NFL team’s most pressing needs and recommended a player for each club to sign during training camp. For the Browns, the suggested addition is linebacker Zach Cunningham.
The Browns have previously been noted for their need to bolster their linebacking corps. They lost two of their starting linebackers from 2023, Anthony Walker and Sione Takitaki, to free agency. Thus, if there are any concerns on the defensive side, it would likely center around this position.
Cunningham spent the 2023 season with the Philadelphia Eagles, playing 13 games and recording 85 tackles and a fumble recovery. At 29 years old, Cunningham was once known for his exceptional tackling ability. He led the NFL with 169 tackles while with the Houston Texans in 2020 and had 142 tackles the previous year.
However, injuries have impacted Cunningham’s performance in recent years. He played only six games with the Tennessee Titans in 2022 due to an elbow injury. While he managed to stay relatively healthy with the Eagles last season, it’s clear that he may not be the dominant force he once was.
Despite this, adding Cunningham could still be beneficial for the Browns. His experience and tackling ability would provide valuable depth and potentially enhance the team’s linebacker unit.
