In a recent chat with E! at the Footwear News Achievement Awards, Jessica Simpson spilled the tea on her secret to feeling like a teenager again: sobriety. With an Icon Award gleaming in her hands, Simpson declared, “Not drinking has been the best thing I’ve ever done for myself. I have so much clarity.” Hold the wine glasses, folks!

Clear Minds and Light Waistlines
“I like to be present when I’m in conversation with people. I like to absorb what other people are thinking, and I like to listen. That kind of blocked me from feeling my life. I’m feeling it now, and I love it,” gushed the six-year sober superstar. And as a bonus, she added with a smirk, “It’s also good to keep the extra pounds off,
I will say, especially during the holidays.” Ah, the eternal struggle of festive feasting! Simpson celebrated her sobriety milestone by throwing it back to 2017, sharing a photo of her former self and dubbing it “unrecognizable.” Apparently, sobriety did more than just clear her mind; it turned her into a time-traveling wizard!
No More Weighing Woes
The 43-year-old, who kissed goodbye to 100 pounds after giving birth to Birdie Mae in 2019, also waved farewell to her scale. In an interview with Hoda Kotb, she compared it to a Ouija board. “I have no idea how much I weigh. Like, I just want to feel good and be able to zip my pants up. If I don’t, I have another size. I have every size.” Now, that’s a wardrobe strategy we can all get behind!
Despite the weight loss naysayers accusing her of using magical weight-shedding substances, Simpson shut them down. “Oh, Lord. I mean, it is not – it’s willpower,” she told Bustle in July. “Do people want me to be drinking again? Because that’s when I was heavier. Or [do] they want me to be having another baby? My body can’t do it.” Note to self: Magical substances not included in the Jessica Simpson transformation package.
Love Yourself Through It
“Embracing my younger self has been a big part of my transformation,” Simpson revealed. “Being too hard on yourself will cause setbacks in anything you do and in any goal you have. Just love yourself through it, give yourself some compassion.
It takes time to get to a place where you feel really confident. Once you do, you’ll be happy you got there,” she wisely shared. Who knew the secret to happiness was a mix of self-love and ditching the scale? Jessica Simpson, apparently!
