In the First Congressional District, incumbent Rep. Don Davis (D-N.C.) secured an easy victory in the primary. On the GOP side, Army veteran and consultant Laurie Buckhout emerged victorious over businesswoman Sandy Smith, setting the stage for a competitive race in this swing district.
The Sixth Congressional District, seeking to replace Rep. Kathy Manning (D-N.C.), witnessed former Rep. Mark Walker (R-N.C.) and lobbyist Addison McDowell advancing to a runoff scheduled for May 14. In the Eighth Congressional District, Mark Harris, who faced challenges in the 2018 GOP primary, appears poised for victory over several Republican contenders. This red district is expected to remain under GOP control.
The Tenth Congressional District saw businessman and Army veteran Pat Harrigan secure victory among Republicans, endorsed by Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson. With the district leaning red, Harrigan is set to succeed Rep. Patrick McHenry (R-N.C.).
Moving to the 13th Congressional District, a May 14 runoff is likely between attorneys Brad Knott and Kelly Daughtry, with the winner expected to replace the retiring Rep. Wiley Nickel (D-N.C.).
In the 14th Congressional District, where Rep. Jeff Jackson (D-N.C.) is stepping down, Army veteran Pamela Genant won the Democrat primary. On the GOP side, North Carolina House Speaker Timothy Moore secured victory, endorsed by President Trump.
