“Diablo 4 Faces Exploit Woes: Players Urge Blizzard for a Fix Ahead of Week 2 Leaderboards”

Diablo 4’s newly introduced leaderboards are facing a challenge as top-ranked players exploit a loophole, raising concerns within the gaming community. The exploit significantly boosts scores in The Gauntlet, an eight-minute speedrun dungeon, and players are hopeful that Blizzard addresses the issue before the start of week 2’s leaderboards.

Over the weekend, players discovered a method to enhance their scores in The Gauntlet by leveraging powerful buffs from shrines in the open world. This exploit provides a substantial advantage to those who start their run with these buffs, disrupting the strategies of players who begin with no such advantage.

Success in The Gauntlet hinges on the shrine buffs obtained inside, aiding in defeating enemies while navigating the map. The exploit allows players to commence their run with a shrine buff, enabling them to choose faster routes and even build strategies around specific buffs. For instance, a showcased sorcerer build by Diablo 4 streamer Rob2628 utilizes the Channeling shrine’s unlimited mana buff to leave a trail of Blizzard patches. This contrasts with normal players who need to optimize their builds without the initial buff.

Despite the exploit, sorcerer player Mekuna maintains the highest score without utilizing the loophole. They intend to share footage of their best run when The Gauntlet resets, expressing the desire for Blizzard to address the exploit before week 2 and disqualify cheaters from the permanent seasonal leaderboard.

Another exploit allowing players to enter the dungeon before its official start has also surfaced, although its impact is deemed less significant compared to the shrine method.

As of now, Blizzard has not commented on the exploits, and there are no fixes mentioned in the upcoming patch notes. In the absence of a timely fix, the second week of The Gauntlet may lose its competitive edge, potentially leading high-ranked players to withdraw until the game’s integrity is restored.
